Man Shot Outside Beverly Hills Restaurant

The area around North Canon Drive was blocked off Tuesday morning while police investigate a shooting that left one person wounded.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — An investigation continues Tuesday morning after a man was shot and injured outside a Beverly Hills restaurant Monday night, according to Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook. The shooter fled the area and remains at large, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, Stainbrook said.

There was no active threat to the community Tuesday morning, Stainbrook said in a video message posted to social media.

"Although the motive for this crime is unknown, we do not believe this is a random act, and there is no active threat to the Beverly Hills community," Stainbrook said.

Police are investigating the shooting, which occurred in the 100 block of North Canon Drive around 10:48 p.m. Monday, according to Stainbrook. The area was blocked off Tuesday morning for the ongoing police investigation, KABC reported.

The man was dining at a restaurant in the area and went outside to smoke when he was shot, CBS LA reported.
