Beverly Hills' Own Mary Bowers Will Compete In The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

Ranking 49th in the world, Mary Bowers is a legend in Major League Eating. You can see her in action on the Fourth of July.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — One of Beverly Hills' own will compete in the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest on Tuesday.

Weighing in at 126 lbs and 5-feet, 3-inches tall, Mary Bowers ranks 49th in the world among members of Major League Eating — that's who puts on the legendary hot-dog eating contest.

Bowers will go head-to-head with some of the best eaters in the world during the women's competition, which will be broadcast live on ESPN 3 at 7:45 a.m. PT Tuesday.

In addition to competitive eating, Bowers is a model and poet, and you can find many of her creative endeavors played out on her website, eatbemary.com.

According to Major League Eating, Bowers has become a legend in the competitive eating community — she was the first-ever women's wild card participant in the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Championship and she's known for her unique fashion choices, like the poutine fascinator.

"Competitive eating is a ten minute period of time when I can experience highs, lows, strength, weakness, joy, and pain all within a few short moments. I think that's why is connects so strongly with the audience. It's life, in an instant," Bowers wrote on her website.
