Prince Harry's Charity In Good Standing After Delinquency Notice From CA Attorney General
The charity was in good standing Tuesday but both the nonprofit and the state offered minimal clarification as to why the notice was issued.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Prince Harry and Meghan’s charity was in good standing with the state as of Tuesday after receiving a delinquency notice earlier in the month.
The notice from Attorney General Rob Bonta was dated May 3 and stated that the Archewell Foundation was delinquent with California’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers after it failed to submit its required annual reporting, renewal fees or both. While delinquent, the organization could not raise or spend charitable funds, according to the notice.
The foundation’s status was delinquent Monday, per the registry’s website, but the nonprofit's status was listed as current Tuesday, the same day the filing was received, the website said.

“After being in touch with our Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, the organization is current and in good standing,” according to an email Tuesday from Bonta’s press office.
Patch understands the foundation initially believed the filing was submitted on time but a check was not received, so a new check was mailed as of Monday, but Patch later learned that the filing and payment were delivered via tracked mail on time to the attorney general’s office.

“We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing,” a spokesperson for the nonprofit said Tuesday in a prepared statement. “Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures. Furthermore, all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing.”
Neither the attorney general’s office nor the foundation offered any additional clarification regarding how or why the delinquency notice was sent to the nonprofit.
Prince Harry and Meghan had continued to do work in connection with the foundation during a trip to Nigeria in recent days. They stopped at the Lightway Academy, which receives support from the charity, and attended a mental health summit organized by nonprofit GEANCO, which partners with the foundation. They also visited the charity Giants of Africa, where they unveiled a foundation partnership.
