Princess Diana's 'Engagement' Blouse Expected To Fetch $100K At Auction
Worn by Diana in a portrait used to announce her engagement to Prince Charles, the blouse was designed by the team behind her wedding gown.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A blouse worn by Princess Diana in one of her first portraits as part of the British Royal Family is expected to sell for up to $100,000 at auction next month, according to Julien's Auctions.
Diana wore the blush pink blouse in a portrait captured by Lord Snowdon that was published by Vogue in February 1981 as part of the official announcement of her engagement to the Prince of Wales, now King Charles, according to the U.K.'s National Portrait Gallery.
The blouse is up for sale by Julien’s Auctions as part of its "Hollywood Legends" auction taking place on Dec. 14-17 in Beverly Hills and online.

The blouse was created by designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel, who would go on to design the gown worn by Diana at her 1981 wedding.
Ahead of the Vogue photo shoot, the blouse was created by the Emanuels from the salvaged remains of a dress damaged by a client's makeup; it then found its way on the magazine's clothing rack, according to Julien's.
