Santa Monica, Wilshire Boulevards Will Be Closed To Traffic This Weekend

Sections of Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards will be shut down this weekend ahead of a major event. Here's everything you need to know.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Road closures are in effect in Beverly Hills as preparations get underway for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Lane and full-street closures will be in effect on Wilshire and North Santa Monica boulevards, as well as side streets and alleys at various times until Jan. 8. Parking will also be restricted in some areas.

Motorists should use South ("Little") Santa Monica, Olympic, Pico or Sunset boulevards.

Here's a rundown of the closures:

North Santa Monica Boulevard

  • Westbound curb-lane closure west of Wilshire Boulevard through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8
  • Complete sidewalk and street closure on the westbound side from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East from 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6
  • Complete sidewalk and street closure on the eastbound side from Century Park East to Wilshire Boulevard from 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 through 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6

Wilshire Boulevard

  • Lane reductions beginning 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4
  • Full closure between Comstock Avenue and South Santa Monica Boulevard from 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.
  • Eastbound lanes will be closed at Beverly Glen Boulevard except for residents from 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 though 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

Whittier Drive, Carmelita Avenue, Elevado Avenue, Lomitas Avenue, Trenton Drive and adjacent alleys will have limited closures from 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

Parking will be completely restricted from 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6 in the following areas:

  • Whittier Drive between Wilshire Boulevard and Elevado Avenue
  • Carmelita Ave between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive
  • Elevado Avenue between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive
  • Trenton Drive between Whittier Drive and Wilshire Boulevard
  • Walden Drive between Santa Monica Boulevard and Elevado Avenue
  • Lomitas Avenue between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive
