A suspicious package was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Beverly Hills Police Department and the bomb squad was called in to check it out, a watch commander said.
The package was discovered at 12:15 p.m. in front the department headquarters at 455 N. Rexford Dr., Lt. Shan Davis said.

How police found the package is not being disclosed at the moment because of the ongoing investigation, he said.
“There’s enough of a concern that we have called to bomb squad to come to take a look before our officers can open the package,” Davis said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s bomb squad checked out the package and determined that there were no explosives in it, a Beverly Hills police dispatcher said.
The all-clear was given at around 1:45 p.m. and Rexford Drive was reopened at that time, she said.
The department was still open for business as usual during the incident, but Rexford Drive in front police headquarters was closed as a precaution, Davis said.
