A Faery Hunt is the imaginative creation of theatre performer and musician Debbie Rothstein, who has been part of the entertainment world for over 50 years. The inspiration for this magical experience came to her during a simple walk in the woods. “I was hiking in the forest and I saw a vision of actors performing in nature as characters,” she recalls. “It looked like Fairyland, and I thought—I'd make it Fairyland!”

For the past 21 years, A Faery Hunt has done just that. The shows are interactive, engaging, and designed to spark creativity and joy in children and their families. Hosted in scenic parks across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, these musical theatrical experiences offer an unforgettable adventure for little ones and their loved ones alike. Enchantment, Nature, and Joy

With a heartwarming focus on positivity and love, A Faery Hunt introduces gentle, kind faeries who weave uplifting stories that inspire. “The fairies that I create are gentle and good,” says Debbie. “I create stories that uplift people's spirits.”

The performances also emphasize the importance of nature. Before each show, children and their faery friends make a heartfelt pledge:

“As summer turns to fall, and winter into spring, I will keep my promise, I swear upon my wings.”

This beautiful tradition helps young audiences appreciate and respect the natural world.

A Hands-On Adventure for All Ages

Before the show begins, children can explore and search for faery treasures—glistening gems, delicate seashells, and vibrant feathers. Then, they embark on a magical, interactive journey alongside their faery friends. Though designed for children, adults are welcome to join in the fun, making it an experience the whole family can enjoy.

Guests are encouraged to dress up in their favorite fantasy attire—whether as a majestic night dragon, a shimmering mermaid, or a whimsical faery. Each performance begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts approximately an hour. Tickets are $15 per person, with children 23 months and under admitted for free. Special faery accessories, including wings, garlands, and wizard hats, are available for purchase. To make the day even more magical, families can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the show.

The Missing Faery Light – When the Faery Queen’s enchanted necklace vanishes, the audience joins forces with the faeries to uncover the mystery. Is Gerome the Gnome to blame, as always? Along the way, adventurers encounter a Simurg—a half-man, half-bird creature—and help restore the faery light to its rightful place.

The Lia Fail and the King of the Faeries – Legend has it that when children visit Fairyland, the King of the Faeries will be revealed. Could it be Noll the funny Troll? Or perhaps Gerome the Gnome? Only the Lia Fail—the legendary Singing Stone of Destiny—can unveil the true ruler of Fairyland. Join this exciting quest to find the kingdom’s rightful king!

A Mermaid’s Tail – Auntie Angelica leads the audience on a whimsical journey to help Mermaid LiBan return to the ocean and find her lost tail. This musical adventure is filled with treasure hunts, surprises, and lots of laughter.
