Star Student Has Determined Drive For Excellence

BURLINGAME-HILLSBOROUGH, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

He is my Advisory Student.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Luis for the past three years at Design Tech High School, he has been an active, loyal, and well-loved member of our Advisory Class. As his Advisory Teacher, we have been able to get to know each other at school in a number of situations including academically, socially, and emotionally. Luis is an absolute asset to our Advisory and school community in general with his gentle, thoughtful manner and determined drive towards excellence. Luis’ distinctive qualities include his ability to work with, communicate with, and understand people around him. Luis is polite, respectful, and always the first person to respond when help is needed or an assignment is given. He is close to his family, actively helping to care for both his extended and family of origin. He is a hard worker both in and out of school, working a number of days weekly at a local food establishment and as a sitter for children and pets in his local area. Academically, Luis has excelled while at dTech High School. His transcript includes an Honors course in US History and a Concurrent Enrollment course at La Canada Jr. College. He is a hard worker whose efforts show in his grades and work ethic. Some of his favorite non-academic classes have included Architecture and Meditation. For fun and a stress release, Luis enjoys playing games both online and in-person with friends as often as time allows. He knows himself well and consistently rises to challenges and obstacles with a clear head and a distinct plan. His favorite subject has always been math, even as a young student he enjoyed it very much. Luis is looking forward to having an internship in the near future through Design Tech and taking advanced courses next year. Luis plans to go to a 4-year university/college to study and obtain his undergraduate degree in Engineering while taking Law requirements. He then plans to go into Law school and become a Lawyer. It is no surprise that Luis has lofty goals for himself that I know he will reach. He is a determined person who would be an asset to anywhere in which he is and will be involved, I strongly recommend Luis Mendez-Stacker as a Star Student!

Luis is a dedicated person academically and to his family!
