Varied API Results For Burlingame Schools

Burlingame students performed well, according to their API scores, even as some schools' numbers dropped.

The majority of Burlingame schools improved their Academic Performance Index (API), a state-wide measurement of educational achievement, according to results released Wednesday by the California Department of Education.

Schools receive scores of 200 to 1000 based on results of state-wise testing. A good goal score is 800, a number far surpassed by all Burlingame schools.

Four of the six schools in the Burlingame Elementary School District achieved higher scores than in 2010, with the exception of , which dropped by seven points, and, which dropped by three points.

Overall, the district improved from its 2010 score of 892 to a 2011 score of 899.

Burlingame High School jumped 28 points this year from 833 to 861.
