Week Ahead: School Board Meets and More

What's on tap for this week? Keep an eye out for these events and stories this week. We'll be there to cover them.

  • Monday is Columbus Day. All city offices are closed.
  • On Tuesday, the Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.
  • On Tuesday, the Burlingame Elementary School District Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. in the district office. Burlingame Community for Education Foundation members will present checks to the district for the 2011-2012 school year in amounts of $800,000 and an additional $500,000 from the Game On! Campaign.
  • The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee meets at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
  • The Gala Event for One Book One Community, featuring author Mary Roach discussing her book Packing for Mars, takes place Thursday at the Fox Theater in Redwood City.
  • The new Safeway store at the Corner of El Camino Real and Howard Avenue officially opens Friday morning.
