Calabasas High School Model UN Team Wins At Nationals

The team won a top prize at the national competition in New York City, while several students won individual awards.

CALABASAS, CA — After debating for nearly 20 hours, the Calabasas High Model United Nations Travel Team earlier this month took home a top trophy at the National High School Model UN Conference as well as several other prizes.

The team won Best Delegation at the New York City conference. Several students won individual awards: Carly Bloom and Aashi Jhawer; and Erin Marshall and Bella Raichelson took home first-place prizes, while Ashi Bhatia and Ethan Perlmutter won third-place trophies, according to the team's website.

Additionally, seniors Bloom and Jhawer each gave 45-second speeches at the UN Headquarters on the General Assembly floor, according to the team's Facebook page.

"The students did a great job and made Calabasas proud," Calabasas Mayor David Shapiro wrote in his Friday letter to the community.
