City of Calabasas Arbor Day Celebration

The City of Calabasas Arbor Day Celebration will take place on March 23, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Gates Canyon Park, located at 25801 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Calabasas.  


Festivities will include tree planting activities and a Smart Gardening Workshop in which participants will learn tips and techniques about composting. The event will conclude with the Official Tree Planting Ceremony.


Arbor Day has a rich history dating back to the 19th century when the first official Arbor Day was celebrated on April 10, 1872.  It was estimated that over one million trees were planted in Nebraska that day.

The City of Calabasas has been recognized as a Tree City USA for the 13th year, and therefore, encourages residents to partake in the important tradition of Arbor Day.
