F.T. “Ted” Muegenburg, Jr. named Lowthorp Richards estate planning chair

Muegenburg will oversee the Lowthorp Richards team of esteemed estate planning attorneys.

Muegenburg will oversee the Lowthorp Richards team of esteemed estate planning attorneys, including Cristian Arrieta, Steven S. Feder, Brian C. Israel, Jeanne M. Kvale, and Seth P. Shapiro.

Muegenburg is known for empathetically guiding his clients in learning their goals then designing and implementing a plan to achieve those goals. He is attentive to client details, works in collaboration with the client, and their accounting and financial advisors. He too is known for his deft navigation of complex tax and state law rules regulating trusts and the expert passage of assets from one generation to the next to achieve optimum outcomes.

Muegenburg began his career as a trial/litigation attorney with the Ventura County Deputy District Attorney. For over 30 years he’s worked in private practice and focused exclusively on business, tax, and estate planning, often handling estate and business succession planning and trust administration for clients whose net worth range from $5,000,000 to over $500,000,000. He joined Lowthorp Richards in 2017.

Muegenburg holds a BA in Economics from Claremont McKenna College and a law degree from University of California Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings). Ted is rated as an “AV” attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, who confer in confidence with local attorneys and judges to determine other lawyers’ skill and ethical performance levels. An “AV” rating is the highest awarded and indicates an “outstanding to pre-eminent” lawyer.

Muegenburg and his wife Dale live in Ventura, where they raised their four children. Over the years, Muegenburg held leadership roles in his church, the Rotary Club of Ventura East, Community Memorial Health, the former Ventura County Symphony, and the Ventura County Bar Association, where he founded the Estate Planning and Probate Section.
