'Fast & Furious 6' Races to Number One at the Box Office

"Fast & Furious 6," currently playing at Edwards Grand Palace Stadium 6, is the number one movie again this weekend, but a surprise sits in the number two place, a movie industry analyst said Sunday.

"Fast & Furious 6'' was on track to take in $35.5 million this weekend, according to studio estimates gathered by Hollywood.com Box Office analyst Paul Dergarabedian. It has grossed $480 million around the world so far.

One weekend surprise was  "Now You See Me,'' which debuted as the number two movie with $28 million in sales, Dergarabedian said.

"A terrific marketing campaign by Summit made this one a surprise over-performer,'' he said. "An original concept and great release date didn't hurt
either.''

Another surprise was a Bollywood romance comedy musical, which opened in the number nine position. "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'' was shot in the Kashmir Valley of northern India, and was one of the very few Indian movies to open in the U.S. top 10, Degarabedian said.

"After Earth'' debuted in third place, with an estimated $27 million in sales.

There was a tie in the preliminary sales figures for "Epic'' and "Star Trek Into Darkness,'' which both were predicted to sell $16.4 million in tickets this weekend.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular movies this week, as estimated by the studios, were ``The Hangover Part III'' ($15.9 million), ``Iron Man 3'' ($8 million), "The Great Gatsby'' ($6.3 million), ``Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani''
($1.6 million), and "Mud'' ($1.2 million),
