CALABASAS, CA — The Las Virgenes Unified School District received a $2 million grant for its success in professional development and credentialing.

The California School Boards Association recognized a number of K-12 districts across the state for categories including civic education, early childhood education, school culture and safety, technology innovation and more. The Las Virgenes Unified School District was recognized for its efforts in developing and retaining educators.

"LVUSD is shaping the future through educational excellence!" the district said in a Tweet.

The grant will be put toward the district's teacher and administration credentialing program, according to the district.

The district has become a local leader in training, recently piloting an Early Childhood Educator Permit Program to help meet teacher demand after Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced universal transitional kindergarten.
