Local Man Dies From Injuries in Wednesday's Motorcycle Accident on Las Virgenes Road

A motorcycle rider killed in a collision in Calabasas with a pickup truck, whose driver made a U-turn, was identified today as a 25- year-old local man.

Thomas Westerlund died at a hospital of injuries suffered in a crash on Las Virgenes Road, south of Thousand Oaks Boulevard, about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Malibu/Lost Hills Station said.

Roy Post, 62, of West Hills, told deputies that he had been parked on Las Virgenes Road facing south "when he checked his mirrors and executed a U- turn,'' Brooks said.

"He said he did not see the (southbound) motorcycle until it struck his vehicle,'' Brooks said. 

Post was not immediately cited in the death, pending the outcome of a traffic investigation.
