The Mowglis Love Life in Calabasas

Patch ran into two of the band members at the Corner Bakery and asked about life locally.

Patch ran into Matthew Di Panni and Dave Applebaum of The Mowgli's Thursday morning as they were having breakfast at the Corner Bakery Cafe.

Fresh from an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Feb. 21 where they performed their hit song "San Francisco" (see attached video), the two dined on eggs and fresh fruit and spoke about life in their hometown of Calabasas, where both grew up and attended high school.

"It's so peaceful, quiet," said Applebaum, the group's pianist. "It's a great place to live."

When asked if they could think of any hot-button issues locally, bass-player Di Panni responded, "I would love to see homeowners associations be less strict," Dipanni said. "They wouldn't let me leave a trailer I bought for my band on the street ... and threatened to fine me."

He's since moved it to comply with local laws.

Di Panni describes the eight-member band's music as "alternative," but Applebaum refers to it as "love rock."

Actress Lindsey Lohan recently confessed her love for the band on Twitter:

“I’m totally obsessed with the sweetness of @themowglis. San Francisco is a great life anthem!”

The Office star and Agoura Hills resident Rainn Wilson Tweeted:

"Listen to @TheMowglis - so catchy and fun."

After a gig at the Troubadour in West Hollywood March 7, the band goes on tour through the end of April.
