100 Illegal Massage Parlors Shut Down In San Jose
SJ police crackdown determined in a nine-month probe the businesses operated either without a permit or as an alleged prostitution venue.

SAN JOSE, CA -- San Jose police shuttered more than 100 illegal massage parlors during a sting that spanned over nine months, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday.
The crackdown was an attempt to tie the businesses to human trafficking, but the verdict is still out on whether the string had any effect on those efforts, the Chronicle added.
The businesses that pose as legitimate venues for massage therapies but allegedly result in practices promising more services that are sexual in nature were determined to either operate without permits or become public nuisances for illicit activity.
