12 Adults, 1 Child Displaced After San Jose Apartment Complex Fire
In addition to the human occupants, four cats and a bird were displaced, fire officials said.
SAN JOSE, CA — Fire forced 12 adults and a child out of a two-story garden-style apartment complex in the 800 block of Deland Avenue in San Jose, firefighters said Friday.
Four units suffered the majority of fire, smoke and water damage, firefighters said on social media. In addition to the human occupants, four cats and a bird were displaced, according to the Fire Department.
One occupant was removed from a unit, evaluated and released without being taken to a hospital.

All 10 apartments in the complex were impacted, firefighters said, but four were not currently occupied.
The cause is under investigation.
