18-Year-Old Dies of Gunshot Wounds Incurred Sunday Night
This is Campbell's first murder since 2007.

Campbell resident Richard Vega died from gunshot wounds shortly after midnight, police officials reported early Monday morning.
At about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 3, Campbell Police responded to a report of a shooting on Latimer Avenue near Dunster Drive in Campbell, according to Captain Charley Adams of the Campbell Police Department.
Officers found 18-year-old Vega suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for emergency surgery. He died shortly after midnight.

"Our investigators are looking into possible motives and conducting interviews to help determine who committed this crime and why," Adams said.
According to police, a dark colored sedan was seen leaving the area eastbound on Latimer Avenue toward Winchester Boulevard just after the shooting.

As a result the immediate area around the intersection of Latimer Avenue and Dunster Drive will be closed to traffic while the CPD evidence team completes its scene investigation. They expect the roadway to re-open about 7 a.m. Monday March 4.
