2 Women Arrested In Connection With Fatal San Jose Stabbing

San Jose police arrested two women Tuesday in connection with a July stabbing that left one man dead.

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose police arrested two women Tuesday in connection with a July stabbing that left one man dead.

Officers arrested Mercedes Rosales, 20, on suspicion of murder and Micaela Van, 18, on suspicion of being an accessory to murder.

Both women are San Jose residents and both are being held in Santa Clara County Jail. Rosales is being held without bail, while bail for Van was listed at $100,000 in jail records Wednesday.

Both are scheduled to appear in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Thursday.

The pair are accused in the death of 22-year-old Raymond Orozco, who was stabbed a little before 12:50 a.m. on July 20 in the 90 block of South Second Street in San Jose, according to police.

Orozco later died at a hospital.

He was stabbed while trying to protect a woman from being attacked, according to a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for his funeral and other expenses. Orozco was a football player at Chabot College in Hayward, according to NCSA and other news reports.

The page had collected about $22,000 of its $26,000 goal as of Wednesday afternoon.
