Alleged Water Tower Vandal Arrested In Campbell
Police allege a 24-year-old San Jose man climbed the Campbell water tower and vandalized it over the weekend.
CAMPBELL, CA — A San Jose man was arrested early Sunday after police allege he scaled the Campbell water tower and vandalized the local landmark.
According to the Campbell Police Department, officers were notified of a person on the water tower shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Previous acts of vandalism to the structure had been investigated on Dec. 26 and Jan. 9.
Officers arrived to find the person still on the tower and made multiple announcements requesting him to descend, which police said were ignored. Police moved their vehicles to a discreet area nearby and waited over two hours for the man to climb down.

He was arrested after a brief foot chase and identified by police as Briley Bodemar, 24, of San Jose. He was booked into the Main Jail on suspicion of felony vandalism, possession of graffiti tools and resisting arrest.
According to police, Public Works crews quickly repaired the vandalism to the tower.

"We take great pride in our city and its landmarks," said Campbell Police Chief Gary Berg. "Thanks to an observant community member who reported seeing the individual on the water tower, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions."
