Bomb Threat Forces Campbell School to Evacuate

Students and employees of a school were evacuated Wednesday afternoon after the school received a second bomb threat, a San Jose police spokesman said.

Police initially responded to Branham High School, at Meridian Avenue and Branham Lane, on Tuesday at about 2:15 p.m. in response to graffiti found on a wall that made reference to a bomb threat, officer Jose
Garcia said.

Officers were at the school again Wednesday morning to ensure student safety when school administrators discovered a recorded bomb threat on the school's attendance phone line.

School officials made the decision to evacuate all students and staff at 10:50 a.m. "to err on the side of safety," according to the school's website.

Administrators of the school, which is part of the Campbell Union High School District, canceled all activities at the school for the day, including sports practices.

Students were led across Meridian Avenue to a shopping center, where students were picked up by parents or bused home.

San Jose police, including four bomb technicians and two police dogs, responded to the scene, and no explosives were found, Garcia said.

No further threats have been made, according to police, and classes are expected to resume Thursday.

"We'll likely have officers on the campus to ensure that it's a safe environment for students to return," Garcia said.
