Check Out What The Campbell Theatre Plans To Do With A $35K Donation

The Campbell Theatre plans to make a major improvement with the funds.

CAMPBELL, CA — A nonprofit dedicated to maintaining and improving the historic Campbell Heritage Theatre donated $35,000 April 19, which the theatre used to improve attendees' experience sonically.

The theatre used the $35,000 from the nonprofit Friends Of The Heritage Theatre and an additional $27,791 from the City of Campbell to purchase a new Yamaha DM7 soundboard that will provide unparalleled sound quality, according to a press release.

“The new sound system is a significant upgrade to the theatre’s technical capabilities, allowing us to continue delivering exceptional and exciting entertainment. Whether it’s seasoned professionals bringing their touring acts to The Heritage Theatre or emerging musicians launching their careers on our stage, this new system ensures we’re providing modern, top-quality sound for all events,” said Monica Payne, The Campbell Heritage Theatre manager.

According to Steve Milligan, the theatre’s production manager, upgrading from the Yamaha DM2000 they had to the DM7 brings a night-and-day improvement. Milligan said the new soundboard’s intuitive touch-screen interface and compact design will make it easier for tech staff to operate, while the superior sound quality at 96kHz delivers a richer experience for audiences.

Samantha Ince, FOHT president, said they collect most of their donations from community members and following the theatre’s reopening after a 20 year hiatus, FOHT has contributed to improving the decorative urns, which date back to 1938, providing black-out curtains and improving the light system.

“Seeing those contributions culminate in such significant support of the theatre is a testament to how beloved the Heritage Theatre is by the local community and beyond,” Ince said.

The Campbell Heritage Theatre originally opened in 1938 as the Campbell High School auditorium and when the school shut down it was turned over to the city. In 1982, the theatre closed due to structural concerns but in 2004 it reopened.
