Fatal Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested In South Bay
Kim Ngan Thi Mai, 60 of San Jose, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony hit and run, police said.
SAN JOSE, CA — A South Bay woman was arrested Saturday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash earlier in the week, San Jose police said.
Kim Ngan Thi Mai, 60 of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, police said.
Mai was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one count of felony hit and run, police said. She posted bail and is no longer in custody.

Officers at around 5:39 a.m. Friday responded to the area of Morrill Avenue and Knights Bridge Road on the report of a hit-and-run collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian, police said.
A preliminary investigation determined that a dark-colored sedan of unknown make was traveling southbound on Morrill Avenue when it struck an adult female pedestrian who was walking outside of any marked crosswalk and then fled the scene in a southbound direction, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with major injuries where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police said.
Investigators located the suspect vehicle at a residence near the crash site, and subsequently arrested Mai, police said.
This is San Jose’s fourth fatal collision, and the fifth traffic death of 2023. It is also the third pedestrian death of the year.
