SAN JOSE, CA —Firefighters wrapped up a 47-acre blaze that broke out Monday in East San Jose, but not before it took down two structures labeled a cottage and mobile home, killed a dog and evacuated livestock temporarily, the San Jose Fire Department reported.

The grass fire was reported at about 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Aborn Road alongside the Evergreen neighborhood near Murillo Avenue in the east foothills of Santa Clara County.

At one point, about three dozen structures were threatened, but San Jose Fire, Cal Fire and Santa Clara County Fire jumped all over the vegetation blaze, stopping the forward progress in a few hours.
