Fire At San Jose Apartment Caused By Cooking
The out-of-control cooking fire spread to the unit's kitchen cabinets, a captain for the San Jose Fire Department said.

SAN JOSE, CA — Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze caused by a cooking fire in a San Jose apartment this morning, a fire captain said. Firefighters responded to a call from neighbors around 11:34 a.m. Wednesday about a fire on the 900 block of College Drive, according to San Jose Fire Capt. Daniel Vega.
An out-of-control cooking fire spread to the kitchen cabinets, Vega said. The firefighters were able to keep the blaze to just the one unit in the fourplex, the fire captain said.
At least one resident was displaced from the apartment where the fire broke out, Vega said.

A second alarm was initially called, but was cancelled at 11:48 a.m. when the fire was extinguished, according to Vega.
"I guess it took about 12 minutes to put this thing out," Vega said.
