Governor Taps Silicon Valley Exec For 4th State Transit Term
Carl Guardino of Monte Sereno has worked as the Silicon Valley Leadership Group chief since 1997.

SAN JOSE, CA -- California Gov. Gavin Newsom reappointed Carl Guardino to his fourth consecutive four-year term on the state's Transportation Commission.
Tuesday's announcement kept the 57-year-old Monte Sereno resident on the board of a crucial he commission, one he has served on since 2007. Guardino is more widely known as the president and chief executive officer of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, a role he has worked in for over two decades.
Prior to his association with the technology advocacy agency, Guardino was director of government affairs at Hewlett-Packard Company from 1995 to 1997. He was also the vice president of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group from 1991 to 1995 and district director for California State Assemblyman Rusty Areias' office from 1984 to 1990.

This position requires confirmation from the California Senate. The compensation is $100 per diem. Guardino identifies as a Democrat.
