June is LGBT Pride Month in Campbell

Campbell City Council made an official proclamation at Tuesday's meeting naming the month of June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride month.

"The recognition of June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride month helps us recognize the contributions of our diverse community and at the same time, serves as a reminder that we must fight prejudice and discrimination toward any community," says Campbell Vice Mayor . "The purpose of the resolution also encourages people to seek common ground and to treat others with dignity and respect, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability or ethnic origin."

The White House made a similar proclamation earlier this month.
