Major Campbell Library Renovations Get Underway Friday
A groundbreaking celebration is scheduled for Friday, and contractors will be working on a series of upgrades into 2025.
CAMPBELL, CA — Leaders from the city and the Santa Clara County Library District on Friday will celebrate a milestone in a years-long effort to fully renovate the Campbell Library. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the library, kicking off an overhaul of the library funded by the voter-approved Measure O.
"The Cambell Library is a cherished resource for the residents of Campbell, said Jennifer Weeks, county librarian for the district. "With the full renovation offering bright, open and welcoming spaces, we look forward to providing Campbell residents a destination to read, relax, attend a program, learn a new skill, or get together with others to work, study, and socialize."
The renovation project was designed to be welcoming and flexible, showcasing popular offerings across ages and interests and hosting family programs. The renovated space will offer residents free WiFi, meeting rooms, children's play areas and a fully equipped community room.

The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of the overhaul, which officials expect will be completed in summer 2025. Neighbors can expect construction noise and traffic delays during working hours, and patrons of the library will need to plan for some parking impacts and periodic sidewalk closures.
Voters overwhelmingly approved the $50 million Measure O in 2018 to improve the library and build a new police emergency operations center. The city is still evaluating bids for the latter project.
