Man Fatally Struck By Car After He Walked Onto Peninsula Freeway: Police
The man walked into traffic and was hit by a car traveling around 65 MPH, police said.
SAN JOSE, CA — A man who walked into traffic on a highway Friday in San Jose was struck and killed by a car, police said.
At around 7:40 p.m. on Friday, California Highway Patrol officers said a man stepped onto southbound Highway 87 and was hit by a Ford Fusion traveling around 65 MPH.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.

All southbound lanes were closed for about two hours.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The driver was not injured, and police said they do not believe he was driving under the influence.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office will release the man's identity once his family is notified.
