Martial Arts Teacher Charged With Child Sex Crimes: Police

The man previously worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism, police said.

SAN JOSE, CA — A matrial arts instructor and former children’s behavioral therapist is charged with unlawful intercourse and oral copulation with a minor, San Jose police announced Tuesday.

Officers responded to a report in January about the crimes and began investigating Bernie Barrozo, 28, of San Jose, according to police.

Barrozo taught martial arts in the 800 block of Coleman Avenue and previously worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism in San Jose, police said. He was arrested March 6 and booked into county jail, according to police.

“Due to the continuous access to children that the suspect has had as a martial arts instructor and behavioral therapist, Detectives are requesting that anyone with information about this case or similar cases contact Detective Zanotto #3657 or Detective Santos #4047,” police said in a news release.
