SAN JOSE, CA — Elon Musk has promised to make things right after Tesla canceled a massive order with a Bay Area bakery, reportedly costing the business thousands of dollars.

In a Facebook post last week, The Giving Pies detailed how the electric vehicle maker placed an order for 2,000 mini pies with the San Jose bakery, doubled it on short notice, then canceled it without payment, over the course of two days.

“To fulfill the order, I had turned down other Black History Month catering inquiries, purchased supplies, and prepared for a demanding production schedule,” the post said. “This abrupt reversal left me reeling, realizing the extent of the impact on my small business. I had invested time, resources, and effort based on assurances from Tesla, only to be left high and dry.”

The cancellation saw owner Voahangy Rasetarinera out thousands of dollars, according to KRON, which reported that after her social media post, Tesla offered Rasetarinera the opportunity to do two events for the company in March.

“Just hearing about this. Will make things good with the bakery,” Tesla CEO Musk commented Friday in response to a post from KRON about the story on X, the social media platform Musk owns. “People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best.”
