November 6, 2012 Elections: Why I Voted Today
The poles are open until 8 p.m. today and residents are coming out for a variety of reasons. What's yours?
This was Abelardo Iboa's first time voting. The Boyton High School student is 18 and will graduate this Thursday but before that, he wanted to make sure his voice was heard.
"I recently got into politics," Iboa says. "I volunteered because it was a great opportunity and I like to have a say."

The high school student is putting in a 13-hour shift at Towne Tile but his spirits aren't dampened by that.
"There are a lot of people that complain and complain," he says. "You can't complain if you don't vote."

There are so many reasons to vote, but, from what residents have told us today none to abstain from voting.
Here are just a few of the reasons Campbell residents shared with us. Please add to the conversation and add your reason in the comments below.
On the Campbell Patch Facebook page:
- Jenna Skinner: I am voting because I understand how fortunate we are to have the right to choose our elected officials and don't want to squander that opportunity.
- Nicole Wilhelm Salacain: Jenna, you found the words I couldn't! That's exactly why I'm voting. I'm really so very tired of all the commercials and the back and forth but we've been granted this fantastic right that so many other do not have.
- Amanda Jo Fisk: We hardly are granted a right to choose IMO. There is a monopoly in the party voting options. It truly is republican or democrat only. Why do the others never even come close to winning. We basically I only ever have two options and we all know one will win. It's all about who has more money to advertise themselves. I voted but not for either of them this time
- Cisco Ortega: Voting is one of the last actual freedoms not under attack by either side. (Except for the voter fraud allegations and lawsuits thereafter. Lol)
In my first election I voted for Clinton because I did t know he was a rapist and played the sax. I have written myself in since and last time took 9 votes with me. This election I voted for Romney. For very simplistic reasoning beginning with this country is not 7 trillion dollars better, but deeper in debt. - Mitchell Murtoff: I vote to help shape the future of the country.
- Carolyn Chopsquez: Because it's a privilege not to take for granted.
- Angela Heacock: I must off set the votes cast by my neighbor.
- Renee Quinn: Yes Carolyn I agree with you ..... We want things to change and possibly tomorrow we will accomplish that
- Anne-Michelle Paris Frances: Because I refuse to let Monsanto win the GMO labeling battle.
- Elizabeth Recktenwald Lovely: "we the people. For the people"
On Twitter:
Paul Ledesma: I voted today to say I helped re-elect the most transformative presidency in my lifetime.
Have you voted yet?
