Oily Rags Cause Building to Burst Into Flames

A Campbell house fire was put out in less than two hours.

A building fire on Monday left about $10,000 in property damages and $1,000 in property loss.

The fire at a house on Shelly Avenue in Campbell was called in at about 9:52 a.m. Twelve engines were dispatched, a Santa Clara County Fire spokeswoman said.

Initial observations, according to the fire report, cite improper handling of oily rags by the homeowner as the initial cause for the flames.
