One Dead After Crash Near Pioneer High School

Police investigating a car crash early Sunday morning find a man inside the vehicle who has been shot. He is pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN JOSE - A man was found dead in his car with an apparent gunshot wound near Pioneer High School in San Jose early Sunday morning, authorities reported.

About 3:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had collided into a pole within blocks of the high school.

Minutes later, at 4:32 a.m., the San Jose Police Public Information Officer reported on Twitter that officers were investigating an apparent homicide in the alley of the 5600 block of Via Monte Drive, near Carlsbad Drive.

After an initial investigation, San Jose police say they discovered an adult male inside the vehicle who had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has not been identified.
