SAN JOSE, CA -- The 40-year-old man who pulled off a MacGyver-like car-theft spree that ended on Oct. 9 in Hayward was arraigned and his public defender appointed a week ago. He's expected to appear in court on Nov. 1, the Santa Clara County District Attornys Office reported.
Andrew Trujillo has been charged on three counts of auto theft. One of the thefts involved his first arrest when he was placed in the back seat of a San Jose police vehicle and got control of it. The car was recovered later, and he was arrested in Hayward.
