• With Measure A, Campbell moves into the ranks of California's highest-taxed cities (localnewsmatters.org) — Campbell shoppers will see their sales tax jump to 10.5% under Santa Clara County’s newly approved Measure A, making the city one of California’s highest-taxed. The countywide increase, aimed at stabilizing the public hospital system, layers on top of Campbell’s 2024 local tax hike and could shape future funding battles between health care and law enforcement.
   

• Bascom Complete Streets Aims to Remedy Safety Problems (sjcctimes.com) — Campbell is a partner in a major Bascom Avenue overhaul that will add protected bike lanes, safer crosswalks, and upgraded bus stops between I-880 and Hamilton Avenue by 2029. The multi-year project, now in design, aims to curb speeding and protect students, workers, cyclists, and pedestrians who regularly travel this busy corridor shared with San Jose.
   

• Man convicted of San Jose rape faces life sentence due to sex crime history in Norway (eastbaytimes.com) — A recent rape conviction in San Jose has ties to Campbell, where the victim first met the defendant at a local bar before the assault at his apartment. Jurors also confirmed his prior rape convictions from Norway, allowing them to be considered at sentencing, which could result in a life term. The case continues into 2026 with final sentencing expected in spring.
