Pedestrian Killed In Weekend Collision

The 85-year-old man was in a crosswalk when he was hit.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian Friday night killed an 85-year-old Santa Clara man, police said.

A witness at 8:48 p.m. reported the pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk and the pickup truck was driving west on Homestead Road toward Maryann Drive, Santa Clara police said Saturday in a statement.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old Cupertino man, remained at the scene and cooperated in the investigation, police said.
