San Jose Man, 4 Juveniles Accused Of Murder In 2017: Police

SAN JOSE, CA — A 20-year-old San Jose man was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of a homicide related to the stabbing death of a teenager in December 2017.

Jonathan Ruano-Najera was taken into custody in Everett, Wash., connected to the incident that left Fernando Miramontez, 17, dead and linked to three juveniles who were also already serving time at Juvenile Hall and the James Boys Ranch in Morgan Hill on unrelated charges. Their identities have been concealed.

At almost midnight on Dec. 28, 2017, San Jose police officers responded to a person stabbed in the 200 block of Sunset Avenue in San Jose and found Miramontez suffering from at least one stab wound. Miramontez was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A follow up investigation by Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office Criminal Investigators Mike Montonye and Ray Avalos, along with Detective Sergeant Isidro Bagon and Detective Ramon Sanchez of the San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit, led to the identification of the suspects.

Another juvenile suspect was already in custody at Elmwood on unrelated adult charges.

One of the juvenile suspects was arrested for being an accessory to murder. All other suspects were arrested and charged with first degree murder.
