SJ’s 1st Homicide Of 2023 Under Investigation

SAN JOSÉ, CA — San José police are investigating the city’s first reported homicide of 2023 after the victim of a New Year’s Day shooting died from his injuries Monday, the agency said.

Officers at around 6:10 p.m. Jan. 1 responded to the 400 block of West San Carlos Street on a report of the shooting, police said.

They arrived to find the victim, an adult male, suffering from at least one gunshot wound who was transported to a local hospital.
The SJPD’s Covert Response Unit arrested the suspect in San José, police said.

“The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” police said.
