Steins Up for Campbell's Oktoberfest

The Stein holding contest attracted dozens of participants for two rounds. Did you participate? Share your pictures with us.

There were brats and there was music, but mostly, there was beer.

The Campbell Chamber of Commerce's 18th Annual Oktoberfest brought thousands into the streets of downtown over the weekend.

On Saturday, participants signed up for the Sam Adams Stein Holding Contest, seeing who could hold their beer-filled stein straight in front of them the longest.

Two rounds of two sets of participants took place, with the winner, San Jose resident Bryan Christopher taking home the $50 gift certificate to the Elephant Bar with a time just over 9 minutes.

As to what aided him in his quest, Christopher points to his hat.

"Giants baby!" he says. "I got some good motivation from the crowd."

The second place title, with a time of 9 minutes flat went to Campbell resident Charles Buyers.

"My motivation was thinking about my loved ones and the vaterland," Buyers says.
