Suspect Arrested, Accused Of Possible Arson, San Jose Police Say
A 61-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fire that broke out Thursday in the Horace Mann neighborhood, displacing 8 people.

SAN JOSE, CA — One person was arrested in connection with a two-alarm house fire in the Horace Mann neighborhood of San Jose on Thursday morning.
Eight people were displaced from two homes at 165 and 155 N. Sixth St. after the fire was first called in at the first residence at 11:36 a.m. Everyone was safely evacuated with no injuries, including a Chihuahua, according to Capt. Mitch Matlow.
Police spokeswoman Officer Gina Tepoorten confirmed Friday that 61-year-old Brent Barnewolt was arrested Thursday at 8:12 p.m. on North Sixth Street in San Jose. Barnewolt was booked into the county jail on suspicion of felony arson with bail set at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the case is being treated as an active criminal investigation. Fire officials are working with police to determine further details.
