Teen Dies From Hit-and-run In San Jose While Suspect At Large

The 17-year-old San Jose resident had some contact with at least one passenger in the vehicle before being dragged by the car, police said.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A teenager died Sunday after being struck last Friday by a vehicle in San Jose, police said Thursday. Patrick Montgomery, 17, of San Jose, died following the collision in the 4000 block of Park Paxton Place.

Officers responded at 6:39 p.m. and began an investigation that revealed that the driver and Montgomery had some contact before the collision. Police said as the driver drove away, Montgomery apparently held onto the vehicle or was dragged by the vehicle. Montgomery eventually fell to the ground and stopped next to a parked vehicle.

Police said the driver drove away north on Park Paxton Place without providing identification or calling for help. Montgomery was taken to a hospital where he died. Police said they have not identified the suspect or the vehicle.
