Tesla Causes Bakery To Lose Thousands By Canceling Large Order Without Payment
"I had invested time, resources, and effort based on assurances from Tesla, only to be left high and dry," the bakery said on social media.

SAN JOSE, CA — A San Jose bakery lost thousands of dollars after Tesla canceled a massive order and did not pay the business, according to reports.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, The Giving Pies detailed how the electric vehicle maker placed an order for 2,000 mini pies, doubled it on short notice, then canceled it without payment, over the course of two days.
“To fulfill the order, I had turned down other Black History Month catering inquiries, purchased supplies, and prepared for a demanding production schedule,” the post said. “This abrupt reversal left me reeling, realizing the extent of the impact on my small business. I had invested time, resources, and effort based on assurances from Tesla, only to be left high and dry.”

Owner Voahangy Rasetarinera told KGO she lost over $2,000 in connection with the canceled order, which NBC Bay Area reported was a $16,000 deal.
Tesla eventually contacted Rasetarinera, telling her the employee she worked with did not have authority to promise payment and offering to buy pies from her moving forward, according to KGO.

“To me, it was clear that Tesla's corporate culture prioritized convenience over accountability, disregarding the livelihoods of small business owners like myself,” the Facebook post said.
“This experience serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by small businesses when dealing with larger corporations. Despite our best efforts to uphold our commitments and provide quality service, we are often left at the mercy of decisions made in corporate boardrooms.”
