The Oldest Fraternity in Campbell

There's in what's moving in to the former Independent Order of Odd Fellows Morning Light Lodge #42 at E. Campbell Avenue and First Street.

Campbell Patch has the scoop but before we get to that, *a little bit of history (because we love history and the developer does as well. And hey, you know you do too!).

Before the building downtown stood vacant for nearly seven years, before developers Imwalle Properties took over and began its nearly 18-month project, it was home to Campbell's oldest fraternity.

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Morning Light Lodge #42 was granted its charter on Sept. 6, 1894 and its first members included:

• R.P. McGlincey
• E.N. Parr
• R.K. Thomas
• George Whitney
• J.C. Lindermer
• B.O. Curry
• J.H. Campbell (Benjamin Campbell's son)

The group's first meeting was held . It moved in 1902 to the current location, donated by J.H. Campbell, and held its meetings and events in a wooden building until 1968 when it was condemned and the most recent building was built in its place.
