Victim Shot Dead On San Jose Street Identified

A 17-year-old remains jailed in connection with last week's fatal shooting on Keyes Street.

SAN JOSE, CA — The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified a man fatally shot in San Jose early last Tuesday as Ronald Amaya Perez, 27. Perez was pronounced dead in the 300 block of Keyes Street after suffering at least one gunshot wound, San Jose police said. Officers were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said. When they arrived, they found Perez in critical condition. He passed away shortly afterward.

Officers obtained a description of a suspect vehicle seen fleeing the area after the shooting, according to police. They then located the vehicle and stopped it.

A 17-year-old boy was detained upon discovery he was a passenger in the suspect vehicle, police said.
