Firefighters Extinguish Oceanside Vegetation Fire
A vegetation fire behind the Oceanside Albertsons shopping center was quickly extinguished Sunday by firefighters.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A vegetation fire behind the Oceanside Albertsons shopping center was quickly extinguished Sunday by firefighters.
At 4:20 a.m. Sunday, the Oceanside Fire Department was notified of thick smoke rising rapidly, with visible flames and sparks near the shopping center in the 3400 block of Marron Road, fire officials said.
Responding crews identified the best way to access the fire through the barrier walls and thick vegetation. Multiple units made access to the fire area and used hose lines to stop fire extension within 20 minutes of arrival, authorities said.

Full extinguishment took an additional hour because of the significant vegetation and objects indicating a homeless encampment, the OFD said. A fire investigator responded to coordinate resources to remove hazardous debris.
No injuries were reported.
