Man Accused Of Breaking Into North County Home, Sexually Assaulting Woman

SAN MARCOS, CA β€” A man accused of robbing a home and sexually assaulting the victim was taken into custody Tuesday, authorities said.

Deputies responded on July 8 to a report of a burglary and sexual assault in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue in San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, who was later identified as Adolfo Brito, 41, forced his way into the victim's bedroom armed with a box cutter, according to the sheriff's office. Officials said he demanded that she remove several items of jewelry.

"After stealing the jewelry, Brito then forced the victim to undress herself and proceeded to sexually assault her," sheriff's Lt. Patrick Fox said. "The victim repelled Brito's actions and fought him until he fled the scene."

Fugitive Task Force investigators found Brito on Tuesday in the 1300 block of Park Center Drive in Vista. He was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of grand theft and robbery, according to jail booking logs.

Sheriff's officials said he was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and assault with the intent to commit a felony.
