Pedestrian, 60, Struck By Car In Carlsbad

Arriving officers found the man lying in the roadway, suffering from serious injuries.

CARLSBAD, CA -- A 60-year-old man suffered serious injuries Friday night after being struck by a car while walking in Carlsbad. Police said officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck around 8:13 p.m. in the area of Carlsbad Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue.

Arriving officers found the man lying in the roadway, suffering from serious injuries. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment, police said.

An investigation showed the pedestrian was walking eastbound when the driver of a Toyota Prius, a 60-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Carlsbad Boulevard and struck the pedestrian.

The driver remained at the scene of the incident. Alcohol intoxication is not suspected to be involved in the collision, police said.

Officers are still investigating the incident, police said.

A one block area of northbound Carlsbad Boulevard from Chestnut Avenue to Sycamore Avenue is closed during the investigation.
